Location information
Noyelles-sur-L'Escaut is a village in the Department of the Nord, about 5 kilometres south-west of Cambrai. From Cambrai follow the N30 main road towards Bapaume. After 5 kilometres, at Fontaine Notre Dame, turn left onto the D142 following the signs towards Containg and Noyelles. Passing through Containg the village of Noyelles can be found about 5 kilometres from Fontaine Notre Dame. On entering the village turn left immediately after the New Civilian Cemetery into the Rue Sorel. Noyelles-sur-L'Escaut Communal Cemetery is located 50 metres down this road on the right. Access to the Extension is through the Communal Cemetery.

History information
Noyelles-sur-L'Escaut was captured by the 6th Division on the 20th-21st November 1917, evacuated at the beginning of December, and reoccupied on the 19th October 1918, by the 7th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. The Communal Cemetery Extension was made by the 2nd Division Burial Officer and it contains the graves of officers and men of the 2nd, 62nd (West Riding) and 63rd (Royal Naval) Division, who fell in September-October 1918. There are now over 100, 1914-18 war casualties commemorated in this site. Of these, a small number are unidentified. The Extension covers an area of 348 square metres and is enclosed on two sides by a brick wall.
