Vandalism repair completed at Haifa War Cemetery

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) have completed the repairs to Haifa War Cemetery which was attacked last week.

The cemetery, which holds 343 casualties from the First and Second World Wars, was attacked by vandals who graffitied many of the headstones with spray-paint.

CWGC staff were quickly on the scene to assess and begin repairing the damage immediately. We are glad to confirm that the cemetery has been returned to its usual high standards, with each headstone clean and restored.

Such acts of vandalism are extremely disappointing; however it is always heart-warming to receive the messages of commiseration and offers of support from the public in such times. We’d like to thank everyone who got in touch.
